38 year marriage just a house of cards

In 1970, while I was teaching school, I became pregnant by a college boyfriend. We married and have gone through all these years pretending to be in love. Even our four wonderful children that we college educated, and our 10 grandchildren think we are an item. Both of our old parents comment often about what great role models we are. The truth of the matter is, we never fight because we are so much like too companions or brother and sister, but nothing has been going on inside the bedroom for years.
For most of my marriage, my husband has been a heavy drinker and frequents bars. The more that he has done so, the more I throw myself into teaching, community service, or helping with grandchildren.
I must admit that we never had any chemistry for each other from the beginning, but my husband is such a good person to everyone in the family and is well liked. He has always tried to be helpful to me. He is not fond about talking about feelings
I never thought this marriage could blow up, but I am looking ahead at our future and don't know how to fix it at this age.

I have been married for only a fraction of the years you have, but I can relate a bit. It's so hard when you want something else, something more and it's just not there... I know it's so cliche but have you thought about marriage counseling? I can't help but wonder if a good counselor could give you tips on finding that spark... I wish you all the best.
