Absinthe

So it wasn't the first alcoholic drink I bought for myself (that ended up being a gin and tonic), but it was the first bottle I bought.The package I got included a spoon and a couple glasses too.=)

And I liked it.I just had a glass so I only got a little buzz, but that buzz did feel a little different...then again, I've not drunk enough to really be able to speak much to that.It tasted good in any case, which was the primary reason for my interest, just not the one anyone seems to focus on with absinthe.It bothers me slightly that I can't seem to talk about absinthe without someone jumping in about the supposed hallucinogenic properties.

Thujone is effectively legal as far as I can tell, just in lower levels. But yeah, if I make it to Europe or someplace I'll wanna try it. :)

you should try the "real" stuff, with thujone in it. you'd have to go out of the country though, as like i said thujone isn't legal here.

i've read it's just like being drunk but feeling more awake and, although not hallucinogenic it's said to cause a sharpening of colors, just like marijuana.

never tried it though as it's too expensive for a night's worth of fun, at least in mexico..

and don't bother with people like that lol.

True, although I suppose it's not really the fault of the people I know. Absinthe got a rep as being hallucinogenic (at least if it's "real"), which far as I can tell is BS, but no one has time to check every bit of common knowledge.

Of all the common-ish topics I have, you're jumping on me for this one?

hence the "supposed" hallucinogenic properties... that's part of why it bothers me that people always referenced that when absinthe is brought up, it's not even true. That or telling me it's just another spirit, as if I couldn't possibly be in it for the taste.

it's really not hallucinogenic, especially not in the states. if anything all it does is add a sense of lucidity for some people.
