Has anyone ever bothered to finish an "awkward moment" sentence?
"The awkward moment when something awkward happens, " is not a sentence.It's just a very long fragment.It's amazingly irritating when people use that phrase.I've noticed a distinct absence of that phrase from the spoken vernacular, but it's all over the online social networks.
No one ever finishes the sentence.No one seems to even be aware the sentence is unfinished.My natural response is consistent: "What about it? What about this moment you've described with such exacting detail? What is the punchline, the catharsis you're just dying to keep me in suspense waiting for?"
Oh, that's right, there is none.You're just telling me something that happened to or around you that happened to be awkward.That was all you had to say, but you chose instead to begin a sentence you will never complete.You're just a quitter -- a quitter with a boring life and a penchant for annoying the fuck out of anyone over the age of 19.
Congratulations, you're boring online too.It's important to be consistent.
