I've felt used by every friendship i've ever had.

The most obvious fault I see by people who say they feel used in their friendships is that they never say "no." Why don't you also ask for things from your friends? Ask them if they will accompany you to watch a movie you wanted to watch, go check out a new restaurant, etc... and occasionally deny them what they ask for if you feel they are taking advantage of you.
