Don't 'get lost in the music'. You'll sound horrible if you do that. It only means you can't hear your voice, and you have no control over your voice. You are probably singing to slow as well. Imagine if cars 'got lost in the traffic' and lost control of their car. It would be disasterous. Insturments 'make your voice sound better' because they're is another noise besides your own. It doesn't change your voice at all, your voice sounds different to you then it does to everyone else. If you can't sing acapella, you shouldn't be singing at all. If you really love singing like you claim, it shouldn't matter to you what peoplethink of your voice. As for the cracks, those definetly would not happen if you practiced singing, and did singing exersizes. You don't even a voice teacher for this, just the internet.
