Eh, if you were to ask me I'd say you're one of the best people on here. Well, not like I'd know, since I haven't been on in forever; but you were one of the best people when I was still a regular, and judging from what I've seen on the days I randomly stumble in here... You've probably moved on up even higher. You've got that balance of maturity, kindness, and honesty.
Either way, whatever happens... I believe in you!
You can't really say the manager's a douche. I mean, he's not the one violating his contract.
That said, I hope everything goes fine. It's not very easy to find work or gain financial stability, so I wish you both the best of luck.
And even if the worst comes to... well, the worst, keep your heads up. I believe you two can make it. After all, you can always try again and get back to where you were. Even if it does mean moving back into your parents' place for a bit.
Congrats. Hope you have the means to take care of them until they're adults.
